In cooperation with BMW, Steinbichler Optotechnik has developed a new ESPI system for applications with a CW-laser.
Under
special consideration of laser safety requirements, the main emphasis
had been put on a more user-friendly operation and a significantly
improved image quality.
The measurement set-up consists of two
system parts: the basic module which contains all optical parts that do
not necessarily need to be integrated into the measurement head such as
laser, beam splitter, or modulator. The other system component consists
of the measurement head containing the objective lens, the reference
fiber outcoupling with intermediate imaging, the CCD-camera, and the
object illumination unit. The basic module and the measurement head are
connected via two monomode fibers.
The basic module is
completely encapsulated. Thus, it is secured that no laser beam will be
emitted in this part. The Nd:YAG laser with a maximum power of up to 10
Watt with 532 nm (depending on model) is also integrated in the basic
module. As the laser beam is split into object and reference beam in
this unit, there is no integration of a beam splitter into the
measurement head itself.
One of the most significant advantages
of this new system is the high flexibility of the extremely compact
measurement head the size of which has been reduced to a minimum
without the loss of optical quality.
The standard version
contains a zoom objective lens with a wide zoom range. Thus, it is
possible to measure objects of various sizes even from different
positions without the need of re-adjusting the measurement set-up.
The FiberESPI system offers the following advantages for vibration analysis applications:
- compact measurement head with outstanding optical quality
- no re-adjustment necessary after changing the set-up
- high safety standard due to completely encapsulated laser beam
- multipanel measurement
- extremely flexible set-up and user-friendly operation
- integrated high-power CW laser
